Subject: Approve a Change Order for the Carport Structure Project
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Approval from the Board of Directors is necessary to issue a Change Order to a
construction contract.
2. HISTORY
The District main office was originally constructed with no exterior sheltered parking.
We are unable to to protect valuable fleet and equipment from the elements. A group
of employees developed a plan for construction of up to five covered parking areas.
A Request For Proposal was issued on September 29 and six proposals were opened
on October 29. The Board awarded the Covered Parking - Carport Structure No.3
project to PLUMMERBILT Custom Construction Inc. at the regularly scheduled
meeting on November 5, 2008.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The Covered Parking - Carport Structure No.3 project design submittal process has
been completed. Upon review of the building design documents, it was discovered
that there was a conflict with the existing infrastructure which required
relocation/redesign of the structural steel and related footings. The total cost of the
change order is $34,119.74.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The recommended source of funding for the change order is the Land Sales Fund that
was set aside for the development of the corporation yard.
The total cost of the change order is $34,119.74 which will be paid to
PLUMMERBUILT Inc. after the satisfactory completion of the project.
5. RECOMMENDATION
1) Authorize Contract Change Order No.1 in the amount of $34,119.74 to
PLUMMERBUILT Custom Construction Inc.
2) Authorize the transfer of $34,119.74 from the Land Sale Fund to the General Fund

This Change Order covers changes to the subject Contract as described herein. The Contractor shall construct,
furnish equipment and materials, and perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Change Order
Items for a lump sum price agreed upon between the Contractor and District.

The amount of the Contract will be increased by the sum of$ 34,119.74 and the Contract Time shall not be
extended. The undersigned Contractor approves the foregoing Change Order as to the changes, if any, in the
contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs
relating to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on
account of said Change Order. The Contractor agrees to furnish all labor and materials and perform all other
necessary work, inclusive of the directly or indirectly related to the approved time extension, required to complete
the Change order items. This document will become a supplement of the contract and all provisions will apply
hereto. It is understood that the Change Order shall be effective when approved by the District.
