Public Utility District
Memorandum
To: Board of Directors
From: Peter Holzmeister
Date: October 20, 2006
Subject: Truckee River Legacy Trail
Why this matter is before the Board: This matter results from a public input
request from Craig Threshie representing the Truckee River Legacy Trail project.
The Board decided to agendize Craig's request at this meeting.
History: As you probably know the Truckee Rotary Club has been spearheading
construction of a trail through the Truckee community following the course of the
Truckee River. The Trail is being constructed in segments. As each segment is
addressed the organizers need to acquire the right to cross land owned by
various different parties.
New information: The organizers of the Trail are now planning to extend it to the
next phase going east of Brockway Road. Craig Threshie asked the Board for
permission to enter upon land owned by TDPUD at Hilltop to perform a study to
determine if it would be suitable for placement of a segment of the Trail.
Attached is an example of the Right-of-Entry letter that the Trail organizers have
been using.
The Board decided to tour the Hilltop land to get a first-hand look at it. It was
also decided to notify adjacent neighbors of the tour so they could participate.
We have sent letters to those property owners.
Representatives of the Trail organization will be present to participate in a
discussion of the request and answer questions.
