BACKGROUND:
Steve Roden started his career as a journeyman lineman with Pacific Gas and Electric
(PG&E) in 1978. He completed his apprenticeship in PG&E’s Coalinga office, and then
worked as a journeyman lineman for many years in PG&E’s Bakersfield division. In about
1996, Steve and his family relocated to Reno, Nevada. Steve worked several years for
Harker and Harker (now PAR Electric), an outside electrical line contractor, performing
distribution line work.
In 2000, Steve worked out of the Union Hall in Reno, accepting temporary employment
with a variety of utilities. The District first hired Steve as temporary journeyman lineman
employee that spring. After working several months, the District offered him full time
employment which he accepted on June 12, 2000. Steve worked very effectively for many
years as a journeyman lineman, and was promoted to Service Crew Foreman on April 6,
2011, a position that he has held ever since. Steve recently announced his retirement to be
effective October 31, 2021.
In over 21 years of total service to the District, Steve, by his knowledge and commitment to
safety, has earned the respect, admiration, and loyalty of electric crew personnel and his
