Public Utility District Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Joe Horvath, Electrical Engineer Date: September 29, 2006 Date of Board Meeting: October 4, 2006 Subject: BID AWARD FOR PURCHASE OF METERS 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for equipment purchases over$15,000. 2. HISTORY Annually, staff goes out to bid for the purchase of meters. Staff included and the Board approved in the 2006 Electric Department Budget, funding ($115,129) for electric meter purchase and testing. This purchase will be funded by a combination of rates and customer contributions. These meters are used for revenue metering in new installations which sustain the cost of the meter and its installation. These meters allow the District to read customers with our Itron automated meter reading system. 3. NEW INFORMATION Bids have been opened and publicly read for the District's purchase of 480 single phase meters rated three wire, class 200, 240 volt, Form 2S, with glass covers. Three Bids were received. Attached is a summary of the bid information received. Name Total Price General Pacific $ 29,760 GE Supply $ 31,200 Hunt Technologies $ 24,000 4. RECOMMENDATION I recommend the Board approve the purchase of single phase meters from Hunt Technologies with a total price of $ 24,000.00, not including sales tax.
