HomeMy WebLinkAbout10 Riverview Drive Improvement Project Agen da Item # TRUCKEE DONNER Public Utility District Workshop To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: September 28, 2006 Subject: Riverview Drive improvement project Why this matter is before the Board: This is a workshop item. It involves a request from Riverview Townhomes Owners' Association that the District participate in improving Riverview Drive so that it is accepted by the Town of Truckee. History: Riverview Drive is a private road that passes in front of our Martis Valley substation. We have used Riverview Drive for many years to access the substation. Until recently, it was a dirt and gravel road. When Riverview Townhomes and Riverview Homes developed, the dirt road was significantly improved (drainage, curbs and paving). But the road was apparently not accepted by the Town. New information: Now part of the road is apparently failing. The homeowners' Association would like to improve it to Town standards and have it accepted by the Town for maintenance and snow removal. Attached is a letter from the Riverview Townhomes Owners' Association asking us to participate in the project. I have spoken with Bob Fitter, Property Manager at Riverview Townhomes. He will be at the meeting on Wednesday evening along with Mark Steiner the developer and other interested parties. They will be prepared to explain the proposal. Recommendation: No formal action is needed at this time since this is a workshop item. Box 309 Truckee, Ca. 96161 Dear Mr. Holzmeister: The Riverview Townhomes Owners' Association is attempting to have Riverview Drive dedicated to the Town of Truckee. This process would transfer the maintenance and snow removal service from the street users to the Town. As a condition of this transfer, the Town requires that the section from Estates Drive to the boundary of Riverview be repaired to meet Town road standards. We have received a bid from Advanced Asphalt to mill the existing surface and install 3" asphalt course from edge to edge at the price of$ 33,532.32. This bid will expire on September 17,2006. The current road users include the Senior Apartments, Riverview Townhomes, Truckee-Donner PUD, and Riverview Homes. We are now waiting for a report from the Town stating that revenue neutrality has been reached. We would like to have the participation of the Truckee Donner PUD in sharing the final cost of the road repair. We believe that if all concerned users share the cost then the amount each would pay would be minimal. Please inform us of your decision and the amount you would contribute. Sincerely, AMCO Bob Fittrer Property Manager
