Consideration of Resolution Accepting Completion and Authorizing
the Filing of a Notice of Completion for Headquarters Automatic
Gates
CONSENT
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
The District Automatic Gates project is complete. A resolution accepting the project
requires Board approval.
2. HISTORY
In order to provide a safe and secure environment for District staff and equipment, the
District installed automatic gates at both entrances to the District's headquarters
complex.
At the July 17th Board meeting, the Board awarded the contract for Automatic Gates at
the District office complex to Tholl Fence, Inc of Sparks, Nevada in the amount of
$90,612 plus a 10% change order authorization for a total amount not to exceed
$99,674.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The Automatic Gates project is now complete.
There were three change orders:
1) Modify pedestrian gates;
2) Add two traffic exit loops;
3) Call Box for remote gate opening for deliveries.
The cost of the change orders are $7,885. The total price of the Automatic Gates
project including change orders is $98,497.
The total budgeted amount including change order allowance was $99,673; the project
came in under budget.

A large benefit of the new gates has prevented the unauthorized access to the yard.
People in the past have used the yard to "cut the corner" to access Tahoe Donner,
used the snow removal snow pile as a sled hill, used the District's dumpster and the
occasional site seer.
The resolution accepting the project as complete is included as Attachment 1.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There are sufficient funds in Capital Reserve Fund for this project.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution 2014-01 accepting the District Automatic Gates project as complete
and authorize the filing of a Notice of Completion.
