WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for purchases in excess of $15,000. f+#:1611to] :vi In 2008, the District established Electric and Water Vehicle Replacement Funds to provide a source of funds for periodic vehicle replacement. Funds are added each year by both the Water and Electric Departments as described in the adopted budget. 3. NEW INFORMATION Staff utilized the services of the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), a national purchasing alliance that bring the benefit of volume pricing to it's members. The NJPA solicited purchase pricing of the vehicle through a competitive bid process. Staff is requesting the purchase of a smaller bucket truck to facilitate the electric crew mobilization in the field. This smaller bucket truck will allow for staff to dispatch quicker into the field, and to access smaller areas still using a bucket truck which would be required. Adding this vehicle to the fleet will assist the crews in everyday work and emergency response, providing the District with a more economical smaller vehicle. 4. FISCAL IMPACT Sufficient funds exist in the Electric Department Vehicle Replacement Fund for the purchase of the vehicle. 5. RECOMMENDATION Award the purchase of one Altec Bucket Truck for Altec Industries, Inc. for the amount of $153,000 with a 10% change order authorization, not to exceed $168,300, plus tax.
