Subject: Consideration to Award a Contract for the Well 20 Pump and Motor
Replacement Project
I WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
District Code requires that all procurements in excess of $15,000 be approved by the
Board.
2. HISTORY ,
Well 20 is a 500gpm submersible well, and serves as the primary potable water
source for the Glenshire community. On September 4, 2015 the submersible well
motor failed. The services of Carson Pump Company were utilized to pull the
submersible pump and motor assembly for inspection and it has been determined that
the motor had failed due to an electrical short within the motor cicuitry. The motor will
require replacement. During the inspection and evaluation of the complete pump and
motor assembly, District Staff has determined the most effective means for ensuring
the full useful life of a new submersible motor is to replace the pump assembly as
well.
3. NEW INFORMATION
On October 27, 2015 the District publicly advertised a request for bids for the Well 20
Pump and Motor Replacement Project. The scope of work for this project includes the
purchase and installation of a new and factory complete150hp submersible pump and
motor assembly, the re -installation of the District's 630' of existing 5" diameter well
piping, factory approved start-up and testing of the pump and motor assembly, and
video inspection of the well column. Staff has also included in the bid request, at the
District's option, the purchase and installation of new 3-phase submersible motor
power cable.
Bid openings were held on November 10, 2015 and the District received one bid.
Staff has reviewed the received bid for accuracy and compliance with District
specifications and has determined Carson Pump, LLC. to be the lowest responsive
bidder. A breakdown of the bids received has been included for your review.
