HomeMy WebLinkAbout7 Well 20 Pump and Motor Replacement Projectenda Item # CONSENT To: Board of Directors From: Brian Wright Date: November 18, 2015 7 Subject: Consideration to Award a Contract for the Well 20 Pump and Motor Replacement Project I WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD District Code requires that all procurements in excess of $15,000 be approved by the Board. 2. HISTORY , Well 20 is a 500gpm submersible well, and serves as the primary potable water source for the Glenshire community. On September 4, 2015 the submersible well motor failed. The services of Carson Pump Company were utilized to pull the submersible pump and motor assembly for inspection and it has been determined that the motor had failed due to an electrical short within the motor cicuitry. The motor will require replacement. During the inspection and evaluation of the complete pump and motor assembly, District Staff has determined the most effective means for ensuring the full useful life of a new submersible motor is to replace the pump assembly as well. 3. NEW INFORMATION On October 27, 2015 the District publicly advertised a request for bids for the Well 20 Pump and Motor Replacement Project. The scope of work for this project includes the purchase and installation of a new and factory complete150hp submersible pump and motor assembly, the re -installation of the District's 630' of existing 5" diameter well piping, factory approved start-up and testing of the pump and motor assembly, and video inspection of the well column. Staff has also included in the bid request, at the District's option, the purchase and installation of new 3-phase submersible motor power cable. Bid openings were held on November 10, 2015 and the District received one bid. Staff has reviewed the received bid for accuracy and compliance with District specifications and has determined Carson Pump, LLC. to be the lowest responsive bidder. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for this project will come from the Water Operations Reservice Fund. Available funds have been included in the aticipated FY16 Water Operations Reserve Fund Budget, 5. RECOMMENDATION Award a contract for the Well 20 Pump and Motor Replacement Project to Carson Pump, LLC., in the amount of $58,800, plus a 10% contingency, for a total amount not to exceed $64,680.
