• April 2012 -Board approval of new virtual servers
— Most servers now run on virtual environment
— System has proven to be resilient to hardware failures
• Original plan included the creation of an offsite recovery
facility
• District currently has limited remote disaster recovery
capacity

• District Offices —Single Point of Failure
— Should a disaster occur at District offices:
— Access to applications and data would be down for weeks to months
— Diminished customer service
— Inability to issue bills
— Inability to control SCADA
• Past events have illustrated a need for improved disaster
recovery

— Ensures near instant application and data access
— Ensures near instant application access should hardware or
software fail or be `corrupted'
— All data would be backed up and accessible 24/7
• Purchase provides for:
— Offsite virtual server environment at Martis Valley Substation
— Replicate all office servers, applications, and data to remote
servers real-time

• Funding for this procurement is included in the approved
FY13 budget

Recommendation
• Approve the purchase of the proposed server hardware,
software, and professional services through NetXperts for a base
amount of $232,918.39, plus a 5% change order, for a total
contract amount not to exceed $244,564.31
