Subject: Review of 2011 Consumer Confidence Report (Water Quality Report)
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
The Water Department will begin mailing the 2011 Consumer Confidence Reports in
the middle of June. This review is intended to inform the Board prior to distribution of
the reports.
2. HISTORY
The District is required to annually prepare a Consumer Confidence Report for each
water system in accordance with Section 116470 of the California Health and Safety
Code. The Consumer Confidence Report is also known as the annual Water Quality
Report.
The District prepares two reports: one report for the main water system and a second
report for the Hirschdale water system. The District is required to mail a copy of the
appropriate report to each of its customers no later than July 1 of each year.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The year 2011 reports have been prepared by the Water Department and reviewed by
the State Department of Public Health. Attached are copies for your review.
There were no reportable exceedances of the Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL)
imposed by the State and Federal governments.
In the 2009 Consumer Confidence Report, the Glenshire Drive Well was over the MCL
of 10ppb for arsenic at 12.1 ppb. In the 2011 Consumer Confidence Report, the
Glenshire Drive Well is at 9.4ppb for arsenic before blending. After blending with water
from Prosser Village Well and Old Greenwood Well, the arsenic level is 5.4ppb.
The Consumer Confidence Reports are scheduled to be mailed in the middle of June,
and will also be made available on the web site, and in hard copy form at the District
office. The reports are included as Attachment 1 and Attachment 2.
