Subject: 2009 Purchase of Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL's)
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
The District Code requires Board approval for all purchases over$15,000.
2. HISTORY
The District started the Million CFL program in 2008 which is a give-a-way of high-
efficiency CFL light bulbs. This program has been very successful and is one of the
District's most cost-effective energy efficiency programs. The approved FY09 budget
includes funding to continue this program and staff has undertaken a competitive bid
process to procure the CFL's for FY09.
3. NEW INFORMATION
A Request for Bids was advertised on January 21, 2009. Five bids were received, all
of which were found to be responsive (a summary of the bids is included in the table
below). Leelite was the low bidder.

4. FISCAL IMPACT
The funding for the Million CFL Program is included in the approved FY09 budget.
There are no additional fiscal impacts associated with this item.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract to Lee 'te in an amount not to exceed $61,921.62 plus taxes.
