HomeMy WebLinkAbout7 Replacement of District GatesAgenda Item # 7 CONSENT To: Board of Directors From: Kathleen Neus Date: July 17, 2013 Subject: Consideration of Awarding a Contract for Purchase and Replacement of the Gates at the District's Office Complex 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for expenditures in excess of $15,000. 2. HISTORY In order to provide a safe and secure environment for District staff and equipment, the District is looking to install automatic gates at both entrances to the District's headquarters complex. 3. NEW INFORMATION The Automatic Vertical Pivot Gates project was advertised in the Sierra Sun and 11 plan rooms on June 19tn. A mandatory pre -bid walk through was held on June 27tn There were four contractors in attendance. The bid opening was held on July 10tn at 2:00pm. Three bids were received and all bids were found to be responsive. No bidder qualified for the District's local preference policy. The following table is a summary of the bid results. BIDDER LOCATION AMOUNT Tholl Fence, Inc. Sparks, NV $90,612 Pullman Construction Middletown, CA $107,000 Crusader Fence Co. Rancho Cordova, CA $130,569 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is sufficient funds in the approved fiscal year 2013 budget to pay for this project. 5. RECOMMENDATION Award the contract for Automatic Vertical Pivot Gates at the District office complex to Tholl Fence, Inc of Sparks, Nevada in the amount of $90,612 plus a 10% change order authorization for a total amount not to exceed $99,674.
