WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD This matter involves scheduling a public hearing related to adoption of electric and water standby charges for the 2013-2014 tax year. PA:1 [3 1 Is]:T1 Owners of vacant lots incur standby charges because they benefit from the location of the District's electric and water lines. This annual charge helps pay for the vacant parcel owners' share of the District's operating and maintenance expenses. Standby rates have not been modified in many years, and there are no proposed changes at this time. K 1Z1:47VI1'1;101NiTiI_rIEelZ This item relates to holding a public hearing to consider renewing the existing electric and water standby charges on vacant parcels in the District. Public notice of the hearing requires publication once a week for two successive weeks with two publications in a newspaper publicized once a week or more frequently, with at least five days intervening between the respective publication dates. The first notice will be published on May 22nd, and the second notice will be published one week prior to the hearing on May 29th. 4. FISCAL IMPACT The estimated revenue for this action is: Nevada County Standby Charges for 2013-2014 will be approximately: Electric $ 24,890 Water $154,160 Total Parcels: 2,324 Placer County Standby Charges for 2013-2014 will be approximately: Electric $ 490 Water $4,480 Total Parcels: 85 5. RECOMMENDATION Schedule a public hearing on June 5, 2013 at 6:00 PM for the purpose of receiving input on the adoption of annual electric and water standby charges.
