Replacement Bucket Truck

Background / History
• In 2008, the District established Electric and Water Vehicle
Replacement Funds
• Unit 217 is at the end of it's useful life, due to aging boom
assembly
• For FY14, one Electric Department bucket truck is budgeted
to be replaced
• Lead time is 10 to 12 months for build and delivery
• Existing vehicle may be declared as surplus

New Information
• Section 3.08.060 of the District Code permits the District to
take advantage of other agency's competitive procurement
programs
• Staff utilized the services of the National Joint Powers
Alliance (NJPA) for this competitive bid, solicitation and
purchasing process

Fiscal Impact
• Sufficient funds exist in the Electric Vehicle Replacement
Funds for the purchase of this vehicle
• Recovery of some of the initial investment will be made
through the sale of the surplus vehicle at public auction
— Proceeds to go to the Electric Vehicle Replacement Fund

Recommendation
a) Award the purchase of one Altec Model AM55 Bucket Truck
to Altec Industries Inc. for the amount of $286 7 732 with a
5% change order authorization, not to exceed $301,069,
plus tax
b) Declare Unit 217 as surplus, and apply the sales proceeds
to the Electric Department Vehicle Replacement Fund
