Electric Department

Background / History
• In 2008, the District established an Electric Division Vehicle
Replacement Fund to provide a source of funds for periodic
vehicle replacement
— Funds are added each year for the Electric Department as
described in the adopted budget

New Information
• The Electric Department Overhead Line Construction Spool
Trailer is in need of replacement:
— Poor working condition
— Safety concerns
— Unavailable replacement parts
• District issued a Request for Bid (RFB)
— Specifications were prepared and distributed
— Advertised in Sierra Sun on December 4t"12013
— Bid opening December 11 t", 2013

District received three responsive bids
— Brooks Brothers Trailers was the lowest responsive bidder

Fiscal Impact
• Sufficient funds exist in the Electric DivisionVehicle
Replacement Fund for purchase of this trailer
• Recovery of some of the initial investment will be made
through sale of the surplus trailer at public auction
— Proceeds from sale will be transferred to the Electric
Department Vehicle Replacement Fund

Recommendation
• Award the purchase of one replacement Spool Trailer to
Brooks Brothers Trailers in the amount of $67,000 plus
applicable taxes
• Authorize the transfer of $67,000 plus applicable taxes from
the Electric Department Vehicle Replacement Fund to the
Electric General Fund
• Declare Unit 283 surplus and apply the sales proceeds to
the Electric Department Vehicle Replacement Fund
