Barbara Cahill
Deputy District Clerk
Truckee Donner Public Utility District
11570 Donner Pass Road
Truckee, California 96161
Subject: Letter of Intent
Dear Ms. Cahill,
I am writing to declare my intent to apply for appointment to the vacancy on the TDPUD Board of
Directors announced on July gcn
I've lived in Truckee for over two years and in the Lake Tahoe region for nearly a decade. I'm currently
employed as an adjunct instructor of political science at Sierra College in Truckee and at Truckee
Meadows Community College in Reno.
I have over twenty years' experience in public administration and academia. My past employment
includes twelve years as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army and two years as a case manager and
program director with Sierra County Social Services, in addition to my aforementioned employment. I
have also completed doctoral -level coursework in public policy at the University of Nevada, Reno.
I believe my experience can serve the District's ratepayers in several ways. The administrative and
analytical skills I've acquired over the years have given me the ability to tackle new and difficult
problems under rapidly changing conditions. My qualities of independent thinking while being a good
team player will make me an effective Board member. Having a personal interest in environmental
protection, I will support and work to continue the District's conservation programs. Finally, as a
ratepayer, I will work to ensure that the District continues to provide a consistent level of service at the
lowest possible cost.
My contact information is listed on the enclosed resume. I look forward to the opportunity to serve.
Sincerely,
Scott Parker
