Monthly Activity Report
To: Board of Directors
From: Jim Wilson – Electric Superintendent
Date: December 2002
Electric Outages:
As you are aware the District suffered substantial storm damage beginning on the
th
14 of December. To date we are still reconnecting homes that were damaged and
needed repairs made before reconnection could be made.
th
On the 28 of December we were once again visited by strong winds, which caused
a few outages.
- Prosser Lakeview was affected with a tree blown into the lines, which in
turn caused insulators to be damaged and therefore replaced.
- Tahoe Donner had a tree fall against the high voltage lines resulting in the
upper area of Northwoods from Ski Slope to Snowpeak to loose power for
about 40 minutes.
- Martis Valley area lost power for several hours when the river crossing
near the Martis Substation fell into the river which affected power feeding
TSD and TTSA. This is a particularly difficult area to patrol as over a mile
of it had to be patrolled on snow shoes.
The entire electric department was involved in the storm damage repairs, which has
kept them very busy. With all of the power problems in the distribution system it also
kept the electricians busy keeping the water system functioning properly.
