Monthly Activity Report
To: Board of Directors
From: Jim Wilson – Electric Superintendent
Date: February 2003
Electric Outages:
There no reported outages for the month of February.
Work in Progress:
During the month of February the substation technician (Pat Waite) was acting
foreman on the electric heavy crew. Work has begun on the Boulders Condominium
high voltage underground project. By the completion of this project the primary lines
from the Albertson’s / Longs Center down Deerfield past the Inn at Truckee will be
placed underground. The overhead lines near the McDonalds Restaurant will also
be revised cleaning up the visual appearance of the power lines in that area.
The meter tech has been doing two commercial meter audits a month to try and work
his way through every current transformer rated commercial meter installation in the
district. This will help insure the accuracy of the electric metering of the larger
commercial customers.
The District electrician has been busy trying to complete the electric wiring at the new
Falcon Point Pump Station. As well, he has completed the under the slab conduit for
the Glenshire Dr. Well.
The California Public Utilities Commission came through last November to inspect
our overhead electric system. During the inspection they found some minor
infractions in the Donner Lake and Tahoe Donner areas. Most were missing guy
guards, missing high voltage signs, and loose down guys. The service crew is
currently working to make the necessary corrections.
At the end of the month, after completing a written exam and an oral interview, the
new electric foreman was appointed to replace the vacancy left by Denny Devine’s
retirement almost a year ago. That person is Ralph Ercolin who has worked for the
District for the past four years.
