HomeMy WebLinkAbout13 Biomass Feasibility Study• In May 2021, the Board of Directors adopted the District's 2021- 2024 Strategic Plan, identifying five strategic goals Manage for Financial Stability and Resiliency Environmental Stewardship: Create a sustainable, resilient environnment for all our communities Engage with our customers and communities in a welcoming and transparent way to identify opportunities oir Take the best of private sector thinking to modernize the utility and add vallue to our communities Developing an incluisive culture drives organizational integration and success • Within the District's 2021-2024 Strategic Plan, the Board also identified four key initiatives • 100% Clean Renewable Energy • Community Broadband • Local Clean Generation • Undergrounding Overhead Utilities • The District continues to pursue opportunities related to each of these initiatives • 100% Clean Renewable Energy • - 62% Renewable Portfolio Standard • Red Mesa Solar Project • Horse Butte Wind Project • Geothermal Energy Projects • Community Broadband • TDPUD Community Broadband Committee • GM Task Force • Recommendation for Initial Scoping Study • Local Clean Generation • Local Public Partnership Established • Town of Truckee • Truckee Tahoe Airport District • Truckee Fire Protection District • Initial Scoping Study (Phase I, II) • Proposed Feasibility Study • District has participated in the initial study phases as technical advisors related to local energy procurement and distribution • Staff recently received a request for the District to formally join the partnership to fund a biomass facility feasibility study • David Featherman with Wildephor Consulting Services to provide presentation on project updates is Resources Sustainability Ethics rket/Community Ressponsibility 77lisis a Self-regulating 8(nines's Mode I that will measure the, sustainobility and societal impact of the vDistrict, our clients and the communities,we. serve. • The District's FY22 and FY23 budgets include $160,000 total each year for the Board's four strategic initiatives • The proposed one fourth partnership by the District in the community bioenergy feasibility study would include a contribution of $30,000 • NOTE: This does not include the yet to be determined costs for an initial engineering study to determine the infrastructure requirements necessary to accommodate a local generation facility a. Receive the presentation from Wildephor Consulting Services, LLC and provide feedback to staff b. Authorize the General Manager to execute a reimbursement agreement with the Town of Truckee in substantially the form approved by counsel for the District's one fourth participating share in the cost of a Biomass Feasibility Study conducted by Wildephor Consulting Services, in an amount not to exceed $30,000
