Why this matter is before the Board: This matter involves adoption of a resolution adopting a document called the "Nevada County 2006 Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Mitigation Program". Only the Board can adopt such a resolution. 2. History: Dennis Cassella from Nevada County attended the Board meeting on August 16, 2006 to describe this plan. This document details the kinds of risks we are exposed to in Nevada County and lists various measures that certain agencies need to take to reduce damage. By adopting the resolution, we become eligible for funding for mitigation projects. At the conclusion of workshop the Directors appeared ready to adopt the resolution adopting the Plan. 3. New information: Attached for your review is the draft resolution for participation in the "Nevada County 2006 Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Mitigation Program". I have not included the entire document again in this packet. If you wish to refer to the document again and you no longer have the document sent to you earlier, please let Barbara know and we will get a copy to you. 4. Recommendation: That the Board adopt the resolution adopting Nevada County 2006 Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Mitigation Program TRUCKEE DONNER Public Utility District R so ion No. 2006 - XXX PARTICIPATION IN THE NEVADA COUNTY 2006 MULTI- JURISDICTION MULTI-HAZARD MITIGATION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Nevada County Operational Area Emergency Services Council has recommended a 2006 Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan pursuant to the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, and WHEREAS, the governing Board of each participating agency must adopt a resolution ratifying the 2006 Nevada County Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Plan and their desire to participate in this plan, and WHEREAS, each participating agency must ratify the hazard assessments as they relate to their jurisdiction or state their unique hazard, and WHEREAS, the 2006 Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Plan has identified urban/wildland fire, including historic downtown conflagration; flooding; severe weather; and hazardous materials incidents as the most likely hazard events in Nevada County and the Town of Truckee concurs with this assessment, and WHEREAS, Nevada County has submitted the plan for courtesy review by the Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Region IX, and WHEREAS, the reviewing agencies have given their approval to the Plan format and process, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District that the 2006 Nevada County Multi-Agency Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is herewith ratified as applicable to the Truckee Donner Public Utility District and the Truckee Donner Public Utility District wishes to be included as a participating agency. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District in a meeting duly called and held within said District on the 26th day of August, 2006.
