TRUCKEE DONNER
Public Utility District
Memorandum
To: Board of Directors
From: Peter Holzmeister
Date: August 29, 2006
Subject: Electric fee ordinance
Why this matter is before the Board: This matter involves adoption of an
ordinance establishing a fee schedule that will permit the District to deal more
efficiently with billing customers for work performed by District staff.
History: Our work order billing process has recently been a topic of discussion.
A customer complained about receiving bills from the District more than a year
after we had performed the associated work. We have conducted a series of
workshops to discuss how this problem could be remedied. It was decided that
adoption of a flat fee schedule related to certain tasks performed by our electric
crew would go a long way toward solving the billing problem. A draft ordinance
was reviewed by the Board on August 16 and a public hearing was scheduled for
this meeting. District staff met with representatives of CATT to get their input and
keep them informed.
New information: By this point in the agenda, you will have conducted a public
hearing on this proposed ordinance. Based input you receive at the hearing and
other information that has been presented to you, you may be ready to adopt the
ordinance.
Recommendation: I recommend that the Board adopt the Ordinance
