AGENDA # 8
Electric Department crews worked on the following projects during the month of January:
The service crew installed 22 new electrical services and responded to 19 requests for
underground facility locates (USA's).
Crews continued to replace or add additional transformers to transformers that were
overloaded because of new construction and growth.
Repairs to the 2"o unit from Tahoe Donner substation continued in Westminster, Ca.
Two single-phase reclosers were installed in the Prosser area to reduce extended
outages.
The line crew began changing insulators on the system of the type that has been known
to fail. This project began in the proximity to Tahoe Donner substation to reduce the fault
currents being felt on that substation.
At Northwoods and Hansel, in Tahoe Donner, devices were installed to facilitate
switching during the times T.D. is being fed via our tye to Truckee's Circuit#5.
Our District electrician attended a three-day meeting of the Electric Users Service
Entrance Committee. This committee meets quarterly to review service entrance panels
and related equipment and then decides on what is and what is not acceptable to each of
the utilities represented.
Members of the department attended first aid and CPR training.
Numerous outages were the result of SPPCo and PG&E transmission failures. We
experienced no major damage to the lines or facilities of the District but our customers
did have several outages from lines unloading and fuses blowing.
Our system peaked during the holiday period at near 29 MW
