The water department staff reorganized the work area and equipment storage area in
the garage better accommodate our organizational needs. Staff is performing the snow
removal for the District's facilities.
WATER {QUALITY:
The routine daily water quality sampling and testing program was completed as
required. A problem was detected in the Prosser System. The water quality problem
was the same as the one detected in September. The system was chlorinated and
flushed. The State Health Department is requiring additional testing and monitoring for
the next two months, in which we will focus on finding the cause of this intermittent
problem. As was the case in September, the presents for the test were only for the
indicator bacteria. The water is safe to drink. The State Health Department has advised
staff to do the notification after the cause of the problem is found and repaired.
MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS, & NEW CONSTRUCTION:
Staff repaired four water main leaks in the month.
Three new service connections were installed.
Fifteen USA locates were complete during the month.
Repaired four fire hydrants.
Performed snow removal at all district facilities.
We responded to customer service request for frozen pipes and flooded houses. None
of the Districted owned facilities were frozen or involved in these service
requests,
SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:
Worked on problems with the SCADA system.
Repaired the chlorine analyzers at Airport Well and Northside Well
Rebuilt control valves on booster pumps #1 and #2 at Ski Lodge Booster ter Station.
Performed scheduled maintenance at system facilities.
PLANNING:
Marsh (Truckee North Tahoe Materials) Project:
Staff continues to work with the project representatives as they progress
with the construction of this project.
Tahoe Truckee Supply:
Staff is working with the project engineer on the improvement plans.
Tracey Residence:
This is a proposed single family residence located next to the existing
Prosser Heights Tank.
Villager Nursery:
Staff worked with project representatives outlining the requirements for
water service to this proposed site,

Advisory Committee. Committee meetings are on hold until the plan is in final_draft form_ Staff is
hoping that some of these monies will be available to promote GSHPs.
California Municipal Utilities Association Energy Services and Marketing Committee- The Committee
is working on projects and programs to help CMUA member utilities prepare for deregulation. The
next meeting is being planned for February 19, 20 1998. Staff' submitted two..appikations to
CMUA's Community Service/Resource Conservation Awards program.
CEC Califomia Ground Source Heat Pump Collaborative- Staff participates in quarterly meetings of
the Califomia Energy Commission's GSHP Collaborative. The Collaborative was formed to oversee
the development and promotion of the GSHP industry in California. The Collaborative _group is
considering disbanding the committee since it has really met its intent to overcome barriers in
the development of the GSHP industry in California. Utility representatives are still planning to
hold similar meetings.
Utility Energy Forum Planning Committee- The next UEF meeting will be held in Granlibakken May 6-
8, 1998. Substantial progress has been made in planning this meeting. The 1998 program title is
Taming Customer Loyalty in a Competitive Market". The first marketing piece was mailed out to over
1000 utility persons.
Employee Safety/Training
Healthy Meals- This continues to be a popular program with employees. The menu for January 7
included. Tortilla Soup, Mixed Green Salad w/Salsa Vinaigrette and Empenadas ala Mode(see
attached recipes and nutritional analyses).
CPR/First Aid- An American Red Cross CPR/First Aid class was held January 9, 1998. About
thirty employees received the training.
