Subject: Construction of the Brockway Transmission Pipeline Project
1. Why this matter is before the board:
District Staff has prepared a set of Bid Documents for construction of the Brockway
Transmission Pipeline Project.
Approval from the Board of Directors is necessary for two issues related to this project;
1) Approval of the plans and specifications for the project
2) Authorization to advertise for Bids
2. History:
The purpose of this project is to provide additional pipeline capacity to convey water from
existing and future wells south of the Truckee River to the downtown area and the existing
Bridge Street 6170 Tank.
The project involves construction of about 9,600 feet of 24-inch pipeline connecting and existing
24-inch pipeline at the intersection Bridge Street & Indian Jack Road with another 24-inch pipe
at the intersection of ranch Way and the State Route 267 Bypass.
3. New information:
The plans and specifications are complete and ready to be advertised. The CEQA process will
be completed at the Board meeting on February 15, 2006.
4. Recommendation:
I recommend that the Board:
1) Approve of the plans and specifications for the project.
2) Authorize staff to begin advertising for Bids with a Bid Opening Date of March 29,
2006.
