ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Primary Function
Under general supervision from the general manager. the engineer is respon-
sible for engineering, planning as required to produce construction, maint-
enance and operating engineering. May serve as acting general manager during
the temporary absence of the general manager. Provide technical engineering
support. assistance, recommendations and training. Responsible for effective
design and/or coordination of the installation of new or revised electric
services to customers and responding to inquiries on District policy, stan-
dards, practices. rates and energy use. Further responsible for design.
layout, development and preparation of contract specifications, data col-
lection. product evaluation, and general supervision as required.

Typical Duties
1 . Supervise District employees as assigned.
2. Design and prepare layouts for single phase and three phase
overhead or underground extensions. relocations, reconductor-
ing, maintenance. etc. Survey and stake proposed facilities.
3. Interpret policies, standards and regulations; quote and col-
lect appropriate fees and monies as required.
4. Inspect overhead or underground installations for compliance
with standards, policies, rules and codes.
5. Prepare cost estimates and material lists for projects.
6. Provide appropriate support and inspections prior. during and
after construction of District facilities.
7. Represent the District in dealings with customers and external
organizations including vendors, regulatory agencies, public
agencies and consultants.
8. Develop and prepare contract specifications.
9. Perform circuit analysis, load balance, fault current and
motor start calculations and voltage drop studies; design
switching schemes and maintain system protection and co-
ordination.
10. Develop and maintain appropriate engineering records.
Employment Standards
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a BS in
Electrical Engineering and two years electrical utility experience.

Licensing
Possession of an appropriate and valid drivers license issued by
the California Department of Motor Vehicles; Professional Engineer's
License valid in the state of California.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of fundamentals of electricity and distribution (both over-
± head and underground) ; knowledge and understanding of line construction.
