WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for equipment purchases over $15,000. 2. HISTORY During power outages, the District's pump stations will stop pumping and the water supply to the customer may be interrupted. The need for emergency generator sets to run these pump stations was identified and is part of the Water Department's 2008 budget. 3. NEW INFORMATION Specifications and bid packages were prepared for seven generator sets. A request for bids was advertised and bid packets were sent to suppliers of emergency generator sets. Bids were received and a bid opening was held on February 28, 2008. Two bids were received. The results of the bid opening are as follows. Bidder Location Amount Cashman Equipment Sparks, Nevada $ 193,110.00 Cummins Rocky Mountain Sparks, Nevada $ 193,741.70 Both bids were reviewed by staff and found to be responsive. 4. FISCAL IMPACT Sufficient funding for this purchase is included in the approved FY08 capital budget. 5. RECOMMENDATION a. Award the purchase of seven emergency generator sets to Cashman Equipment of Sparks, NV in the total amount of$193,110.00 not including tax. b. ut rite a bu et transfer from the Water Department Facility Fees Fund to the Water De rt nt ne I Fund for this purchase.
