By -8—0-c—t-o—b e_r—-1 9-8 C The Board of Directors Truckee Donner Public Utility District P 0 Box 309 Truckee CA 95734 Gentlemen: In 1973 1 built my home on old highway 40 above Donner Lake, approximately halfway between the Lake and the summit. The property Iles within the PG&E service area. At the time I commenced construction, the PG&E had agreed to provide electric service to me; however, during that summer the Forest Service enacted a new regulation that required utilities to assume responsibility for fire wherever they install new lines over Forest Service lands. Since the line to my property would have to cross Forest Service lands, the PG&E decided not to serve me. My recent inquiries to the Forest Service and to the PG&E have shown that the earlier difficulty has been overcome by appropriate insurance coverage; thus, the PG&E Is now willing to serve me, but the cost to me would be well beyond what I am able to afford. Representatives of the PG&E have suggested that your agency may be able to serve me on a much more economic basis, as they say that you are not governed by the same regulations that the PG&E Is, and you are not taxed In the same way they are. The PG&E representatives also mentioned that their company would be happy to provide appro- priate rights of way so that you could serve me, even though I am In their service area. May I request that you consider serving me? I will appreciate any assistance you can give me In this matter. Very truly yours, Norman A Wilson
