HomeMy WebLinkAbout20 Consumer Confidence Report AMENDED - AGENDA ITEM # Public Utility District MEETING DATE: April 5, 2023 TO: Board of Directors FROM: Chad J. Reed, Water Utility Director SUBJECT: Workshop: 2022 Water Utility Annual Consumer Confidence Reports APPROVED BY .. Brian C. Wright; General Manager RECOMMENDATION: Review the Truckee Donner Public Utility District's Truckee-Main System and Hirschdale System 2022 Water Quality Consumer Confidence Reports. BACKGROUND: The 1996 amendment to the US EPA Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requires urban water systems to deliver an annual water quality report, referred to as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). The CCR summarizes annual water quality information including source water, levels of detected contaminants, and compliance with regulatory agencies. Each year the District prepares individual reports for the Truckee Main System and the Hirschdale System. The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) requires that the District mail or direct deliver a copy of the appropriate report to each of its customers no later than July 1st of each year. However, in 2012 the SWRCB included a provision that allows the District to provide customers with notice and a "one-click" web link access to the CCR in lieu of mailing a printed copy. ANALYSIS: The 2022 CCRs have been prepared by the District's Water Department for the Truckee-Main System and Hirschdale System. Each of the reports will be submitted to the SWRCB for compliance. Truckee and the surrounding basin are very fortunate to have access to high quality water in the Martis Valley Aquifer. During the 2022 period the District has continue to operate with no reportable violations over the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). Water quality is a top priority to the District staff. During the past year, District staff took over 520 bacteriological samples and monitored for hundreds of other chemical compounds. All samples were processed through a third party California State certified laboratories. The District uses these highly reputable labs to increase transparency and ensure only the highest quality of water is Page 1 of 2 served to our customers. Customers will be notified in their May monthly water bills, via a District "bill stuffer" or e- notification, that the CCR is now available to be viewed via a "one-click" link on the District's website. Printed copies of the CCR will be made available for customers upon request. The Truckee Main System and Hirschdale System reports are included as Attachments 1 and 2 respectively.
