WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD This matter involves adoption of a resolution commending Joe Straub for his many years of dedication to the District on the occasion of his retirement. 2. HISTORY Joe Straub has announced his retirement from the District. His last day will be in early December. Joe has completed thirty-nine years of dedicated service to the District. Joe started as a meter reader on June 16, 1969. He progressed from Apprentice Lineman to Lineman on September 3, 1974 and continued as a Lineman through November 11, 1983. He then took a job as Warehouseman until September 1, 1996. At that time, he became the Electrical Technician. The District extends our sincere appreciation and friendship to Joe and Donna and wishes them a happy retirement. 3. NEW INFORMATION Sadly, Joe is retiring. We are also happy for him as he starts the next chapter in his life. Attached for your review is a draft resolution commending Joe for his service to the District and its customers. 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact with the item. 5. RECOMMENDATION That the Board adopt the resolution. Stephen Hollabaugh PF Michael D. Holley Assistant General Manager General Manager TRUCKEE Public Utility District Resolution No. 2008 - XX Commending Joe Straub For His Professionalism and Dedication WHEREAS Joseph Straub has been an employee of this District since June 16, 1969; and WHEREAS,during his thirty nine years of employment at the District,Joe has demonstrated a superior work ethic, pride in doing a job completely and dedication to service to the community; and WHEREAS, Joe has been a highly respected leader in the District's line crew and his advise has been valued by District management throughout his career; and WHEREAS, Joe's ethical behavior has established a standard that will guide District staff for years to come; and WHEREAS, Joe's has contributed to the success of the District in many ways; and WHEREAS, Joe has earned the admiration of his fellow employees and of this Board; and WHEREAS, Joe has announced his retirement to be effective on December 9, 2008; and WHEREAS,the Board of directors wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude for the performance of Joe Straub. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE DISTRICT THAT: • Joe and Donna Straub have the best of luck and happiness in their retirement; and • Joe Straub be commended for his invaluable contribution to the success of the Truckee Donner PUD, for his work ethic which stands as a model for others to emulate and for the friendship we continue to share with him.
