Holley Date: May 07, 2008 Subject: Adopt a Resolution to Implement a Consent Calendar on Future Board Agendas 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD The Board had requested that this issue be brought before the Board. 2. HISTORY Many government agencies, including cities and special districts, utilize a consent calendar to obtain Board approval for routine and non-controversial agenda items. Staff proposes to add a consent calendar to the District's Board Agendas. 3. NEW INFORMATION The functional nature of a consent calendar is that items may be acted on as a group or pulled from the consent calendar by a Board member and subsequently acted upon separately. Members of the public may also request that an item be pulled from the consent calendar. Formal staff presentations are not provided for consent calendar items, but staff would be available to answer any questions that may arise regarding a particular item. Should an item be pulled from the consent calendar, staff will be prepared to provide a formal presentation on the item if requested. 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. 5. RECOMMENDATION ding the use of a Consent Calendar at future Adopt the attached resolution regar Board Meetings. Michael D. Resolution No. 2008 - XX ADOPTION OF USING A CONSENT CALENDAR ON FUTURE BOARD AGENDAS WHEREAS, many government agencies utilize a consent calendar to obtain Board approval for routine and non-controversial agenda items; and WHEREAS, the functional nature of a consent calendar is that items may be acted on as a group or pulled from the consent calendar at the request of a Board member,staff member or member of the public; and subsequently acted upon separately; and WHEREAS, should an item be pulled from the consent calendar, staff would be prepared to provide a formal presentation on the item; and WHEREAS, for a docket item to qualify for placement on a consent calendar, one of the following conditions would need to be met: 1. Item must have no known opposition on the Board. 2. Item must be routine in nature, such as approval of Board Minutes, Treasure's Reports, or Staff Activity Reports. 3. Item must have been previously discussed during a workshop. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District authorized the use of a consent calendar on future Board Agendas. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Ttruckee Donner Public Utility District in a meeting duly called and held within said District on the 7 day of May 2008.
