TDPUD Monthly Activity Report
April 15, 1999
To: Board of Directors
From: Kathy Neus, Support Services Manager
Subject: Monthly staff report for March 1999
Agenda # 11
METER READERS
With the winter months, most things were slow. The meter readers spent time
combining routes which allows them to have more routes down-loaded on the hand held
devices for reading.
The automated reading system has definitely shortened the amount of time to read
meters but we still read in the same number of days. In order to shorten the actual
time to read (in days) the combining of routes and some re-sequencing of stops is
necessary. Any “spare” time the meter readers have is spent working on projects that
have been put on hold for the last couple of years.
The meter readers read 10,037 meters, investigated sixteen low usage reports,
completed 164 service orders and delivered 182 48hr/1013 notices.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
March was a relatively slow month, lots of battery and headlight replacements. There
were thirteen repairs, five BIT inspections and three services for the month.
Unit 17 (electric bucket truck) had a hydraulic oil leak and was taken out of service.
Due to the age of the truck, getting parts was a slow process. Parts arrived the first
part of April, repairs were made and the truck is now back in service. This is the truck
that the Board approved going to bid for a replacement.
PURCHASING AND WAREHOUSING
The different departments are starting to gear up and plan jobs. Sue has been
working on getting quotes and ordering material for the summer.
Sam has been actively working on doing the inventory cycle counts. There are still a
few that will have to wait until all the snow melts. The warehouse is getting ready for
incoming material. It seems like there is lots of room until a delivery of fifteen pallets
of meters arrives and homes have to be found for all the pallets.
BUILDING AND GROUNDS
Snow is melting and ground is appearing. The sidewalks have been cleaned (yet you
could never tell). Trash has been picked up but it seems that the wind continuously
blows more into the District’s yard. Lots of spring cleaning projects are beginning.
