WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD This workshop item is before the Board to provide a mid-year update on the status of the FY09 Conservation Department programs. 2. HISTORY The District has been investing in new conservation programs and capacity. This included the creation of the Conservation Department and the addition of new staff. The approved FY09 budget included funding for existing programs as well as for new energy and water conservation programs. Staff has been working on continuing to optimize our existing programs and develop and bring to our customers the new programs. 3. NEW INFORMATION FY09 year-to-date performance of the existing Conservation Department programs is on schedule and the mid-year results will be presented to the Board at the meeting. New energy conservation programs that have been developed and are being implemented include: Keep Your Cool, Residential Green Partners, Portable/Take Home Energy Meter Loan Program, and the LED MR-16 Business Lighting Pilot. The Home & Business Electronics Education Program, LED Exit Sign Program, Energy Saving Program (ESP), and the Power of Conservation Website/Green Challenge Program are in development. New water conservation programs that have been developed and are being implemented include the Smart Water Controller Program and the Green Partners Water Program. The TDPUD Water-Wise Demonstration Garden, Web-Based Water- Wise Garden Resource, and Water-Efficient Toilet Program are in development. 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this workshop item. 5. RECOMMENDATION Receive this report and provide comments. even Poncelet Michael D.
