Subject: Review of the District Mission Statement
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Title 1 of the District Code, General Provisions, Chapter 1.05 contains the District's
Mission Statement. Periodically, this statement needs to be reviewed and updated.
2. HISTORY
The current version of the District Mission Statement, Objectives, and Goals was
adopted in March of 2008 after a series of public meetings. This document had been
previously modified in March of 2007 and was originally created in July of 2006.
The current Mission Statement (1.05.010) of the District is:
"The Mission of Truckee Donner Public Utility District is to provide adequate, reliable
and high quality water and electrical power services, and to manage District resources
in an open, responsible, environmentally sound manner at the lowest practical cost.
In pursuing this Mission, the District will aggressively pursue renewable energy
sources as set forth in its Renewable Portfolio Standard (Chapter 7, Electric)."
A Board Workshop was held on August 19th to review the District Mission Statement
and staff was directed to produce a new draft Mission Statement based on input from
the workshop.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The new draft Mission Statement is as follows:
"The Mission of Truckee Donner Public Utility District is to provide reliable, high quality
water and electrical power services while meeting customer demand, and to manage
District resources in a safe, open, responsible, and environmentally sound manner at
the lowest practical cost."
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associate with this workshop item.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Receive this report and provide comment and direction.
