Sutton 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD This matter involves recognizing the important contributions and service of Director Patricia S. Sutton. 2. HISTORY Director Sutton moved to Truckee in 1963 and served on the District's Board for over 31-years beginning in 1973. Director Sutton's dedicated public service is notable not only for its longevity, but also for the significant contributions that she made to the District and our community. Director Sutton played a lead role in the evolution of the District's electric and water system and was an early champion of efforts to conserve energy and water. During her career, Director Sutton also served as a Supervisor in Nevada County, on the Local Agency Formation Commission, and the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board. 3. NEW INFORMATION The Board now has an opportunity to recognize Patricia S. Sutton for her service to the District. She should be commended for her considerable involvement and dedication to the TDPUD and our customers. The last 31-years have been very significant in the history of the TDPUD and she has played a leading role in the success of the TDPUD. The attached resolution commends Director Sutton for her service and directs that the new TDPUD Water Wise Conservation Garden be renamed the Patricia S. Sutton Conservation Garden. 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. 5. RECOMMENDATION Adopt the attached resolution to recognize Patricia S. Sutton for her many years on the Truckee Donner PUD Board. Sutton For Her Dedication and Service WHEREAS, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District is a customer owned public utility organized as a Special District under the laws of the state of California, and WHEREAS,the Truckee Donner Public Utility District,established in 1927, provides electric and water utility services to the community of Truckee, and WHEREAS, the laws of the state of California require the Truckee Donner Public Utility District to have an elected Board of Directors, and WHEREAS, Patricia S. Sutton was elected to the Truckee Donner Public Utility Board of Directors In November 1973; and WHEREAS, Director Sutton served 31 years on the Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wishes to express its appreciation and admiration for Director Sutton's commitment and service to the Board and community; and WHEREAS, Director Sutton demonstrated outstanding principles, knowledge, follow-through and dedication; and WHEREAS, Director Sutton was frequently the voice of the common person and common sense; and WHEREAS, Director Sutton contributed to the success of the District in many ways by providing a vision to improve both electric and water infrastructure; and WHEREAS,the District would like to dedicate the new Water Wise Conservation Garden as the"Patricia S. Sutton Conservation Garden'; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE DISTRICT THAT:the Truckee Donner Public Utility District hereby wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude to Patricia Sutton for her accomplishments.
