Date: September 011 2010
Subject: Consideration of Appointing the General Manager as Negotiator for
Sale of District Real Property
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Only the Board can appoint a District negotiator.
2. HISTORY
The District owns a 160 acre parcel located below the Tahoe Donner Subdivision, this
parcel is referred to as McGlashan Springs. The parcel had been declared surplus by
the Board at the June 20, 2001 meeting. Letters to the four public agencies, State of
California, Truckee Tahoe Unified School District, Town of Truckee and the Truckee
Donner Recreation and Park District have yet to been sent. These four agencies have
the right of first refusal.
This parcel has garnered a lot of interest over the years. At one time the parcel was
considered for a community campus site. Some of the local citizens groups have
expressed concerns about the development of the parcel. Mountain Area Preservation
Foundation and the Truckee Historical Society have expressed that the parcel should
remain as open space due to botanical, archaeological and historic resources as well
as opportunities for recreation.
The District had been granted a Final Judgment in Quiet Title to the McGlashan
Property, eliminating any claims to title of the property on June 26, 2006.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The Tahoe Donner Association has expressed an interest in purchasing the 160 acres
known as McGlashan Springs.
