Subject: Consideration of Continuing the Airport Water Tank Emergency
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Only the Board can declare an emergency.
2. HISTORY
At the May 5, 2010 Board meeting, the Board declared an emergency for the Airport
Water Tank. The Board also dispensed with the normal bidding process and awarded
the design and repair work for the Airport Water Tank to DYK Incorporated in a
amount not to exceed $126,788.
Then at the May 24, 2010 and again at the June 2, 2010 Board meetings, by consent
the Board continued the Airport Water Tank emergency.
On May 24, 2010 DYK Inc. arrived at the Airport Tank site and began the field portion
of the tank repair work.
3. NEW INFORMATION
As of June 7, 2010 the repair to the Airport Water Tank dome ring was complete. DYK
Inc is in the process of cleaning up the site.
At the next scheduled Board meeting, Staff will bring to the Board for consideration of
a Resolution to approve a notice of completion for the Airport Water Tank, and declare
the Airport Water Tank emergency over.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this item.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a motion confirming that the Airport Water Tank emergency continues.
