Subject: Consideration of a Resolution Accepting Final Completion of the
Airport Water Tank Repair Project and Declaring an End to the
Emergency
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
The Airport Water Tank repair is complete. A resolution accepting the project requires
Board approval.
2. HISTORY
On May 5, 2010, the Board declared an emergency at the Airport Water Tank. The
Board also dispensed with the normal bidding process and awarded the design and
repair work to DYK Incorporated.
At each subsequent Board meeting, the Board has continued the emergency.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The repair work began at the Airport Water Tank on May 24, 2010. DYK Inc.
completed the work on the Airport Tank dome ring on June 9, 2010. Staff is now
requesting that a formal Notice of Completion be filed.
The Airport Tank repair project was completed for $115,253, which was the original
bid price. There were no change orders.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with filing a Notice of Completion.
5. RECOMMENDATION
a) Declare the emergency action relating to the repair of the Airport Water Tank
complete.
b) Adopt a resolution accepting the Airport Water Tank Repair Project as complete
and authorize staff to file the Notice of Completion.

AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE
AIRPORT WATER TANK PROJECT AND
DIRECTING FILING OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District made the determination to
repair and refurbish the Airport Water Tank; and
WHEREAS, District found that the failure of the dome ring on the Airport Water Tank created an
emergency; and
WHEREAS, DYK Incorporated was selected by the District to perform the work because they specialize in
construction and repair of prestressed concrete tanks; and
WHEREAS, DYK Incorporated has completed all of the work included in the Airport Water Tank Project;
and
WHEREAS,The District's Water Superintendent, Mark Thomas, now certifies the completion of the Project;
and
WHEREAS, the District's Water Utility Manager, Michael D. Holley, has recommended that the work be
accepted by the District;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the District as follows:
1. That the District hereby accepts the Airport Water Tank project as complete.
2. That the Clerk of the District be directed to file with the County of Nevada the Notice of Completion,
a copy of which is attached hereto.
3. That 35 days following the filing of the Notice of Completion, the monies retained from the
contractor payments be released to the contractor if no claims have been made to the District by
material suppliers or laborers.

2. Nature of interest or estate of owner: beneficial interest of a public utility of water facilities.
3. That on July 21, 2010, the hereinafter described improvements were accepted as complete
pursuant to Resolution 2010-XX of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District,the awarding authority.
4. That the subject improvements of the Notice are generally described and identified as follows:
Airport Water Tank Project.
5. That the name and address of the contractor for such project was: DYK Incorporated,PO Box 696,
El Cajon, Ca. 92022

California that the foregoing is true and correct.
