TDPUD Monthly Activity Report
April 15,1999
To: Board of Directors
From: Bob Quinn, Electric Superintendent
Subject: March ‘99 Activity Report
Agenda #11
Truckee experienced heavy snows during this reporting month and as a consequence, electric
department crews spent considerable time working on maintenance projects related to the weather
conditions. No major widespread power occurred during this period. Additionally, electric crews work
on the following projects during the month of March:
The service crew installed 24 overhead and 8 underground electrical services and responded
to 31 requests for underground facility locates (USA’s).
Crews continued to replace or add additional transformers to transformers that were
overloaded because of new construction and growth.
Crews worked in the alley downtown installing padmount transformers in preparation of
converting the area to underground.
In the Donner Lake area, primary lines were converted from delta configuration to wye
configuration. By changing configuration, when a tap fuse opens for whatever reason, (birds,
squirrels, weather, etc.), brownouts are eliminated along with consumer claims for damages.
A large percentage of Donner Lake needs to be converted and will be done as time,
scheduling, and monies permit.
During March, interviews were held and a new lineman, Ralph Ercolin, was hired to replace Mike
Camara who moved to Hawaii. During this same period, Pat Waite was awarded the substation
position vacated by Wayne Cummings, who also moved to Hawaii. Pat’s movement to the substation
position leaves the line crew one lineman short. We are attempting to fill that vacancy.
I was on vacation for the first two weeks of March.
