Conside• ration of Extending the Memorandum of Understanding with IBEW 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Only the Board can approve labor agreements. 2. HISTORY The two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the IBEW 1245 expires on 2011. In Ma , the Board appointed the General Manager as the December 31, Y g Districts negotiator with the Union. The District's and the Union's negotiating teams me t and reached a tentative agreement to extend the current agreement. 3. NEW INFORMATION es and The g tentative agreement is for a four-year term, 2012-2015, and affectswag the employee's CaIPERS contribution rate. 2012 - No general wage increase 2013 - COLA based on October 2012 CPI-W 2014 - COLA based on October 2013 CPI-W 2015 - COLA based on October 2014 CPI-W Effective 1/1 2012 - 1.65% reduction in employee contribution rate to CaIPERS (this y percentage direct) relates to the reduced amount owed due to refinancing of the CalPERS Side-Fund). The mem bers of the Union voted and approved this tentative agreement on June 2, 2011. 4. FISCAL IMPACT reduction in the represented employees' contribution rate to CaIPERS The 1.65/°° ,$ equates to 62 568 with funding coming from the annual savings from the side-fund liability refinancing. The estimated total present value savings to the District is $54,500 over the term of the proposed MOU. 5.
