Subject: Consideration of Declaring Equipment Surplus
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Only the Board can declare equipment with value in excess of$1,000 surplus.
2. HISTORY
The District has adopted a policy for the disposal of surplus property. Section
8.20.010.2 of the District Code states that for items with an estimated value in excess
of$1,000 per item, the General Manager shall direct that a Board action declaring the
items surplus be placed on an agenda for Board review and approval.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The District purchased a Kassbohrer All Terrain Vehicle (Snow Cat) in 2004. The
Snow Cat was ordered with a hard top passenger cabin. The cabin was cumbersome
to store and to access field materials. It is no longer in use. The hard top has been
replaced with a canvas top that allows for easier loading and unloading of material.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There is a minor monetary impact associated with the sale of the surplus equipment.
The funds from the sale shall go to the Electric Department General Fund.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Declare the equipment as surplus and direct the General Manager to dispose of the
goods in accordance with District policy.
Michael D. Holley
General Manager
