Subject: Consideration of the Appointment of the General Manager as the
Labor Negotiator
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Only the Board can appoint a District negotiator.
2. HISTORY
The General Manager negotiates with the IBEW Local 1245 to set forth wages,
benefits and other terms and conditions of employment for the represented
employees of the District. The General Manager also acts on behalf of all District
employees who are not represented by the IBEW Local 1245 for all terms and
conditions of employment.
The General Manager was appointed as labor negotiator with IBEW Local 1245 on
May 4, 2011 and appointed to act on behalf of the unrepresented employees on July
6, 2011.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The General Manager's appointment as negotiator is a standard business item.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this matter.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Appoint the General Manager as the District's negotiator with the IBEW Local 1245
employees and with unrepresented employees of the District.
