WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD This item is a recommendation that certain vehicles be declared surplus a 'p and disposed of in accordance with District policy. Only the Board can declare vehicles as surplus. 2. HISTORY District policy governing the disposal of surplus requires th property q e General Manager and staff to evaluate the continued need for materials office equipment q pmen# and vehicles. If any items are found to be no longer necessary, staff is to submit a report epart to the Board declaring the items surplus. 3. NEW INFORMATION Staff has evaluated the current vehicle fleet and has identified 2 vehicles that should be declared as surplus. In January 2012, Unit 4 was replaced but retained ned when another SUV, pool vehicle, failed and was surplussed. Unfortunate) Unit y, 4 has now also suffered a substantial mechanical failure. Unit 18 was replaced in 2006 p , however was retained as a reserve bucket truck, and has been utilized duringstorm damage mage when another vehicle was out of service for repair Both vehicles have become more costly to maintain because of age, nu 'g tuber of miles and potential repair costs. Replacement vehicles are already in service. 4. FISCAL IMPACT Proceeds from the sale of the vehicles, at Public Auction will be transferred to the respective Electric and Water Department Vehicle Replacement Funds. 5. RECOMMENDATION Declare Unit 4 and Unit 18 as surplus, and apply the sales proceeds to the Water and Electric Vehicle Replacement Funds. E Stephen Hallabaugh Michael D.
