Subject: Consideration of a Payment to the Town of Truckee Paving Project
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Board approval is required for expenditures in excess of$15,000.
2. HISTORY
Each year, the Town of Truckee repaves various roads in our community. As part of
the paving project, District electric vaults and water valve boxes need to be adjusted to
match the new pavement. The Town adds line items in their bid proposals to cover the
cost of adjusting the electric vaults and water valve boxes. The Town then invoices the
District for the completed work.
3. NEW INFORMATION
The Town of Truckee awarded a paving contract to Advance Asphalt on August 14,
2012. The bid includes the adjustment of 7 vaults, and 58 valve boxes at a cost of
$38,300. The streets in the paving project are Donner Pass Road (State Park to
Donner Market), Palisades Drive, Martis Valley Drive, Frates Lane, downtown alley,
Pioneer Trail, Alder Drive, Deerfield Drive, River Park Place, Church Street, and
Schussing Way.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds exist in the FY12 Electric and Water Department budgets for this
activity.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the General Manager to pay the Town of Truckee invoice for the adjustment
of electric splice boxes, vaults, and water valve boxes, in a base amount of $38,300
plus a 10% change order contingency for an amount not to exceed $42,130.
