District Water Supply- Now and in the Future
There are three major factors that will effect the amount of water supply the District has available to
meet our service requirements:
• Growth in number of customers
• Increased usage by customers
• Water quality regulations
Growth
Truckee is a)pedencing an increase in the number of new homes and multi-family units constructed
each year.
Increased customer usage pattern
More of our second homeowners are staying for longer periods of time in the summer. Some
families are staying for the whole summer. A greater percentage of homeowners are full time
residents.
Water Quality Regulations
New water quality regulations for arsenic limits will reduce the amount of water available from our
current wells.
Alternatives
• Drilling of new wells in Martis Valley Area.
• Study other area aquifers.
