Staff Report
To: Board of Directors
From: Ed Taylor,Water Superintendent
Date: 04/28/00
Donner Creek Irrigation Pipeline Project
• At the March 15,2000 meeting the Board of Directors authorized staff to advertise for and accept bids for
the pipeline project. Bids were received and opened on April 27, 2000 for this project. Three bids were
received. The lowest bid was from Longo Construction in the amount of$294,725.
• The cost for the irrigation pipeline is very high. The high costs are due to the construction of a pipeline up
the hill from the Gateway tank to the golf course pipeline. An additional problem is the construction and
permanent erosion control required by Lahontan for the pipeline installation. This will add to the cost of the
project. There is an alternative installation which will lower the constriction cost and address any erosion
control problems.
• Amended project plans, specifications, and contract documents are complete for the Donner Creek
Irrigation Pipeline Project.
Recommendation
I recommend that the Board reject all bids and authorize staff to advertise for and accept bids for construction of
the Donner Creek Irrigation Pipeline Project with a bid opening date of May 24,2000.
