BACKGROUND:
At the Board Meeting on November 20, 2002, 1 presented, and the Board approved
Change Order No. 2 for the INSTALLATION OF SERVICES FOR THE WEST END OF
DONNER LAKE project. That change order covered issues under thirteen general items.
Just prior to Thanksgiving, I received a call from Jaeger Construction indicating that four of
the final quantities they had presented in the analysis of Bid vs. Actual quantities were in
question.
Jaeger indicated that they had purchased 31 fire hydrants from Western Nevada Supply
but had not received a credit from Western for returned hydrants. Therefore, their office
staff believed that 31 hydrants had been installed. They also indicated that a total of 49
gate valves and 11 fire hydrants had been abandoned, as opposed to the quantities of 38
and 6 originally presented.
I directed the projected inspector (Paul Rose) to review his field reports and then perform
another site inspection to verify the quantities in question. It was determined that only 27
fire hydrants were installed and that it was Jaeger's responsibility to straighten out the
issue with Western Nevada Supply. It was also determined that the revised quantities for
abandonment of gate valves and fire hydrants were correct.
Therefore, I am presenting Change Order No. 3. This Change Order is for a total of
$6,248, representing the cost of the additional nine gate valve abandonments and the five
fire hydrant abandonments.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the Board authorize Contract Change Order No. 3, in the amount of
$6,248.00 owed by the District to Jaeger Construction.

This Change Order covers changes to the subject Contract as described herein. The Contractor shall construct,
furnish equipment and materials, and perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Change Order
Items for a lump sum price agreed upon between the Contractor and District

The amount of the Contract will be decreased by the sum of $6,248.00 and the Contract Time shall not be
extended. The undersigned Contractor approves the foregoing Change Order as to the changes, if any, in the
contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs relating
to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on account
of said Change Order. The Contractor agrees to furnish all labor and materials and perform all other necessary
work. Inclusive of the directly or indirectly related to the approved time extension, required to complete the Change
order items. This document will become a supplement of the contract and all provisions will apply hereto. It is
understood that the rder shall be effective when approved by the District,
