Resolution No. 2025 - 20
Endorsement of the New Truckee Library Bond Measure G
WHEREAS, The current Truckee Library has served the community well over the years, but
is more than 50 years old and originally constructed to serve a community with a population
of approximately 2,000; and
WHEREAS, With the growth of the Truckee community over the last several decades the
current library no longer has the capacity to serve the needs of those who utilize its resources;
and
WHEREAS, A local grassroots initiative to fund and develop the New Truckee Regional
Library has been led by the Friends of the Library (FOL), Town of Truckee (Town) and Nevada
County (County); and
WHEREAS, The vision of the new Truckee Regional Library is to serve as, in addition to
traditional public library resources, a local hub for access to community emergency resources,
support activities to benefit children and seniors and provide enhanced access to technology
for disadvantaged or disabled community members; and
WHEREAS, The District, along with Truckee-Donner Rec and Park District (TDRPD) and
Truckee Sanitary District (TSA) have collaborated in establishing a beneficial location for the
library project through a partnered parcel lot line adjustments of publicly owned lands at
Truckee Regional Park; and
WHEREAS, The FOL, Town and County have stablished the Truckee Library Joint Powers
Authority (Library JPA) to construct, own and maintain the library; and
WHEREAS, The Library JPA has established project funding strategy to include philanthropic
contributions, foundations and grants, and Bond Measures; and
WHEREAS, The Library JPA has established a Community Facilities District and have
scheduled Bond Measure G to be placed on the November 4, 2025, Special Elections Ballot;
and
WHEREAS, The District as a local public utility agency has been an active supporter of FOL
and the Library JPA through its public partnerships.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC
UTILITY DISTRICT DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The District hereby formally endorses funding of the New Truckee Regional Library

through Bond Measure G to be scheduled on the November 4, 2025, Special Election
Ballot
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called and held within
the District on the 20th day of August 2025 by the following vote:
AYES: Murrell, Bender, Laliotis, Finn
NOES: none
ABSENT: none
ABSTAIN: Randall
