HomeMy WebLinkAbout5 Public Hearings Agenda Item # "14 UtilityPublic District Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: December 28, 2001 Subject: Three public hearings Three public hearings are scheduled for Wednesday evening. 1. Public hearing on the budget for 2002: 1 have enclosed another copy of the draft budget, in case you may not be able to easily locate the earlier one. 2. Public hearing on the possible electric rate increase: Attached is an analysis prepared by Steve Hollabaugh describing the two options, on an increase of 0.5 cents per kilowatt-hour and the other an increase of 0.7 cents per kilowatt-hour. The analysis compares these options to the current rates. The actual ordinance language is in the packet under Agenda Item #8. 3. Public hearing on the possible increase in the pumping zone component of the water rate schedule: The basic water rate is sufficient to fund the budget. However, with the significant wholesale power cost increases we have experienced and the impact of that on our retail rates, I am suggesting that we increase the pumping zone component of the water rate by an average of$1.61 per month. The residential pumping zone rate increase varies from $.53 per month in zone 1 to $4.13 per month in zone 11. At the conclusion of the three hearings you will be able to adopt the budget resolution and the two rate ordinances.
