HomeMy WebLinkAbout7 Geophysics Services 77 ublic UtilityDistrict Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Ed Taylor, Water Utility Manager Date: 6-3-2002 Subject: Consideration of proposal from Cooksley Geophysics, Inc. to provide geophysics services in geophysics testing in the northeast area (89 north) to determine the geology of the area BACKGROUND: In November of 2001, the Board approved a contract with Aqua Hydrogeologic Consulting for the locating of new well sites for water supply. Staff and David Carlson for Aqua Hydrogeologic Consulting have identified the need for geophysics testing in the northeast area (89 north) to determine the geology of the area. The information developed by the geophysics testing will be used to determine future well site locations, development of a three dimensional computer model of the area, and the basic for a computer based ground water management plan. Staff recommends that a contract be approved in the amount not to exceed of$87,500 with Cooksley Geophysics, Inc to perform geophysics testing in the north east area (89 north) to determine the geology of the area as an aid in locating future well sites per the attached proposal. RECOMMENDA71ON: I recommend that the Board approve the proposal from Cooksley Geophysics, Inc. for geophysics testing services in the amount not to exceed of$87,500 and authorize the execution of an agreement for the proposed services. Cooksley 530-241 -3147 p. 1 Truckee Donner Public Utility District P.O.Box 309 'Truckee, CA 96160 ATTN: Mr.Ed Taylor, Water Superintendent TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT i This Agreement is entered into as of November 12, 2001,between Truckee Donner Public Utility District(CLIENT.) and Cooksley Geophysics,Inc. (CGI). Work to be performed: Except as may be specified elsewhere in this agreement CGI shall furnish technical and professional services, including labor, materials,supplies,equipment, transportation, supervision, and shall perform operations necessary to satisfactorily: 1. Acquire the reflection seismic data shown on the enclosed program map. 2. Compute-compile the data and supply a report with appropriate trap and interpretations. Compensation: As full consideration for the satisfactory performance by CGI of this agreement,CLIENT. shall pay to CGI compensation in accordance with the prices set forth in the following paragraphs and with the payment provisions of this Agreement Cost of mobilization for crew and equipment (including drill and survey crews)will not exceed$5,000.00 and will be invoiced at cost. Data collection along approximately 11,000 lineal feet of seismic line will be charged at $7.50 per line foot. Additional traverse as needed and approved by the district will be charged at the same rate. Data processing and report preparation is included in the footage rate. Survey elevations will be provided by CGI,the cost also being included in the footage rate. With the execution of this agreement, CLIENT. agrees to pay CGI,in advance, $25,000.00, to cover mobilization and start-up expenses. This amount shall be credited against the subsequent invoice(s)covering this contract. CLIENT.will be billed in two- nay ea ue au: caa .eames m. Invoices will be billed to: Truckee Donner Public Utility District Arm: Mr.Ed Taylor,Water Superintendent PO Box 309 Truckee,CA 96160 CGI agrees to hold CLIENT. harmless for any damage caused as a result of this seismic survey. Further, contractor employees must be covered by workmen's compensation insurance. Certificates of workman's compensation and general liability will be sent to CLIENT. before operations begin. Total estimated cost of the program is $82,500.00 plus mob-demob charges not to exceed $5,000,00. This amount will not be exceeded witbout written authorization from the CLIENT. This agreement shall be in effect until the completion of said project. If this Agreement is to your satisfaction, please sign a copy and return it to us in the enclosed envelope.
