HomeMy WebLinkAbout8 Community School Agenda Item # ' Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: January 11, 2002 Subject: Community School I have had conversations with Pat Gemma, Superintendent of Schools and Joan Berry of the Placer County Board of Education regarding their interest in using land we own. They site to operate the Truckee Community School and they are interested in the small parcel we acquired from Breeze Cross, behind our headquarters building. The Community School is where students go who have been expelled from high school. They are not allowed on the high school campus, but they need to attend school. Currently they attend school in the small office building south of the Martis Theater center. The rent at that location is high, and the space is less than ideal. If that space is not available the students will need to travel to Auburn to attend school. So the local school district is looking for a parcel of land on which to place a modular class room building. Approximately twelve to twenty students would attend school at such a location. They asked if we have a site that could work and I thought of the Cross property. A representative of the School District will attend out Board meeting to talk about this matter on Wednesday evening.
